We are proud to participate as a project partner in the forward-looking research initiative “Zinkpositiv.” Supported by the European Union and the state of North Rhine-Westphalia, the project aims to develop an environmentally friendly and energy-efficient process chain for manufacturing components from innovative zinc extrusion alloys.
These new alloys, which are used as a substitute for brass, offer numerous advantages: they are lead-free, have a lower density, and reduce the CO₂ footprint by up to 40%. In collaboration with the South Westphalia University of Applied Sciences and other partners, the project focuses on developing zinc wires for industrial large-scale production.
The “Zinkpositiv” project not only contributes to the sustainable development of the metal industry but also strengthens the competitiveness of the participating companies. Jirka Wille, who leads this project for LÜLING, explains: “We see this partnership as an important opportunity to develop innovative and environmentally friendly products for the future. And it’s all happening with a regional partner here at the South Westphalia University of Applied Sciences in Iserlohn.”
The project runs from June 2024 to May 2027 and is funded with a total of €850,000.
